Catechists

You are invited to become a Catechist for the 2023-2024 School Year!

Classes begin mid-September

A catechist (from the Greek word “to echo”) is someone commissioned by the parish to hand down its faith tradition.

Qualities and Requirements

  • A practicing Catholic, baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith, attending Mass and the Sacraments regularly 

  • Solid understanding of Catholic teaching, Scripture, Catholic Tradition

  • A desire to grow in and share the Catholic faith 

  • A deep love of Christ and children with a strong desire to share that love

  • A commitment to the Church’s liturgical and sacramental life and moral teachings 

  • A generosity of spirit, respect for diversity, and a habit of hospitality

 

Catechists are Supported by Faith Formation Staff

  • Hands-on classroom resources, including materials, calendars and more 

  • 1:1 mentoring and support from Faith Formation staff

  • Opportunities to grow in your faith 

 

Child Safety

St. Ambrose Parish and the Diocese of Tucson are committed to the safety of our students. All those who work with children in any capacity must meet the requirements of the Diocese, including attendance at a mandatory training, passing a background check and being fingerprinted.
