FatherJohn Arnold died Thursday, June 18, 2026. He was the pastor of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic parish in Oro Valley. Father John was 70 years old.
A priest for 28 years, Father John was born and raised in Tucson. As a child he attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School and Salpointe Catholic School, he went on to graduate from the University of Arizona and Gonzaga University. Before becoming a priest Father John was an attorney in Tucson.
During his 28 years of ministry, Father John served as the Parochial Vicar at Immaculate Conception Church in Yuma, Pastor of Saint Ambrose Church in Tucson, Pastor of Saint Anthony of Padua in Casa Grande, and most recently as the Pastor of Saint Mark the Evangelist in Oro Valley.
Father John also served in a number of leadership roles in the diocese to include Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia. He also served on the College of Consultors and Priest Personnel boards.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon him.

through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
